5 Year Academy Implementation Plan:
Year 1: 2011-2012 – Year of Planning

  • Creation of Advisory Boards
  • Integrated Curriculum Planning – Professional Development for Teachers
  • Hiring of Academy Directors

Year 2: 2012-2013 – Launch Year

  • Class of 2016 – target 90 students in choice of academy
  • Class of 2015 – target 30 – 90 students – option of standard college prep or Fine Arts Academy
  • Class of 2014 & 2013 – remain in standard college prep curriculum

Year 3: 2013-2014

  • Class of 2017, 2016 – 100 students per class in choice of academy
  • Class of 2015 – student choice – max 90 students
  • Class of 2014 – remain in standard college prep curriculum

Year 4: 2014-2015

  • Class of 2018, 2017, 2016 – 100 students per class choice of academy
  • Class of 2015 – student choice – max 90 students

Year 5: 2015-2016

  • All classes in academies – 100 students per class in 3 academies
