Drama
This year (2011-2012) at Luther North College Prep (LNCP) we have revised the way we do theatre. With New Life Community Church using the stage and cafeteria for their sanctuary, the need for an alternative stage was apparent. The result was the creation of The Theatre Project.
The Theatre Project (TTP) of LNCP utilizes our choir room to create a theatre comprised of a movable stage floor, lighting, and seating for 103 audience members. The performance space is usable as a three quarter thrust stage as well as a traditional proscenium stage.
LNCP is also a part of the International Thespian Society registered as Troupe #2371, providing students with opportunities to expand their skill in the theatre arts. As Thespian Society members, our students are eligible for scholarships and dramatic competitions and are privileged to be part of an organization that promotes excellence in the dramatic arts. Membership in the Thespian Society is determined by an achievement- based point system and participation in our productions. There are, however, no requirements to be involved in the Drama Club, save for an appreciation for the arts. Everyone is welcome.
Every season there are four productions scheduled for the community to enjoy, two of which are children’s theatre.
2011-2012 Season Includes:
Aladdin N’ His Magic Lamp by William-Alan Landes – October 1,4,6,7,8, 2011
Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett – December 9,10,11, 2011
A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare – March 10,13,15,16,17, 2012
