Katie (Boris) Garber graduated from Luther High School North in 1992, and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Rosary College in Business Administration. She began working at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in the Eurodollar option pit. After two years, she moved off the floor to work for Betzold Research and Trading, an investment firm that does portfolio management for banks. Katie worked on the trading desk for six years on a team that traded bonds (mortgages, municipals, agencies, treasuries, and corporates).
She then realized her passion is working with individuals to create a financial plan, which is her current line of work at Thrivent Financial. As a Financial Consultant at Thrivent, she has completed advanced education and licensing requirements, and she provides comprehensive, customized financial guidance for her clients. In all, she has worked in the financial industry for 18 years and has been with Thrivent Financial for seven years.
Katie has a passion for Lutheran school education after attending Our Savior Luther School in Norwood Park and Luther North. She is currently in LNCP’s Hall of Fame for basketball and softball.
Katie is married to Alex Garber (Luther Class of 1992) and they have one daughter.
