Market Day

Market Day

Market Day is a nationwide fundraiser designed to help schools raise extra funds. Market Day sells mostly food items, and donates a percentage of the sales to the school. The quality of food items rivals restaurant quality, and they have a number of items specifically marketed and packaged as “quick meals” for families on the run—which many of us are. Market Day also runs a few specific single item fundraisers (such as pizza, cookie dough, pies, etc.) which we have used occasionally at Luther North.

Here at Luther North, Market Day helps to support a number of extracurricular groups and activities, such as individual sport teams, drama club, yearbook staff, and National Honor Society, to name a few. Pickup days are once each month on a Saturday, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Order forms may be received by contacting the school office, or by asking your student to bring home an order form when they are handed out in homeroom once a month. Orders may also be placed online, at www.marketday.com. Luther North’s Account Number is 1563.

What is Market Day?

Market Day is a unique and profitable fund-raiser that combines the fun of an old-fashioned food market along with school fund-raising. Market Day, the original fund-raising food co-op, has been in operation since 1975 and has grown to include thousands of schools just like ours.

What are Market Day products like?

Each month, restaurant-quality food products, from the same vendors that supply many upscale restaurants, are available for purchase. Most products come individually wrapped so you can take out just the portion you need. You will recognize many nationally known suppliers, such as Campbell’s, Gatorade, Kraft, Pepperidge Farm, Quaker, Sara Lee, Tropicana, and Tyson. These companies develop products and packaging exclusively for Market Day. Market Day meats are cut from the finest USDA Choice Midwest beef – corn fed and naturally aged for tenderness without chemical tenderizers. Market Day’s seafood and poultry items have rigid specifications, which meet or exceed USDA standards for quality. Other items available each month include: family meals (entrees), pizzas, snacks, lunch items, pies, cheesecakes, frozen fruits & vegetables, breakfast items, beverages, and so much more. Each month an order sheet with different products “on special” (on sale) and new products to entice your taste buds will be available in the Homerooms and school office.

The best part about Market Day is that everybody benefits. You receive outstanding high quality products with prices that are comparably priced to those at retail food chains, while Luther North groups earn extra funds too. When you grocery shop from Market Day, Luther North can earn up to 20% of the retail cost of the foods you purchase. Also during the year, there are “Bonus Day” months offering special pies and cookie dough from which we earn a higher profit. So the more you shop through our Market Day program, the more dollars go back to the Luther North groups. We earn this money without door-to-door sales for our kids and without purchasing products we wouldn’t ordinarily purchase. The Market Day Company provides quality products and service with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. We are confident that Market Day not only benefits our school and the programs we support, but will also benefit you as the consumer.

How Can I Participate in Market Day?

Each month a new Market Day order sheet will be available to you in the school office and will be handed out to your student, usually during Homeroom. Simply complete the information box, which includes your name, address and most importantly – your HOME phone number. We prefer your HOME phone number so we can contact you during pick up (on a Saturday) if you fail to pick up your order or because of a blizzard, etc. Please write the number of boxes of each item you wish to order on the line in front of each item. Then total the number of boxes you have selected for the entire sheet and enter this total at the bottom of your order sheet.

To return the order sheet, you may send it back to school with your student, mail it, or drop it off in the school office. Watch the Due Date under the Ordering Information section so you won’t miss the deadline date for ordering. If you do notice that you’ve missed the deadline, please call us anyway, as most of the time we can enter late orders via the Internet. Questions? Or for more info, please call the school office or Janine Walesa, her number is on the order form.

Another way to place your order is to go online at www.marketday.com. It’s quick and easy – plus you get to see clearance and special sale items that are only available online. Also online you will find recipes, ingredient and product information, photos and cooking directions, especially helpful if you happen to throw away the box!

Who distributes the Market Day products?

Our Market Day program is successful because of our hard working, dedicated volunteers. Each month is dedicated to a particular Luther North group or sport and those students involved in that group or sport are the volunteers that help at Market Day pick-up. However, if you can spare a few hours one day a month, please consider helping out at Market Day pick-up (no experience necessary). It’s really a great way to get involved with the groups and sports available at Luther North.

Market Day makes your food shopping more interesting and much easier. Every month Market Day offers you various opportunities to try new and exclusive products. And while feeding your family, you can also help your school earn extra funds. We hope to see you each month at our Market Day sales. We’re sure that once you try the quality and convenience of Market Day, you’ll be back for more. Thanks for your support!
