Frequently Asked Questions
1.) What are the entrance requirements for a freshman student?
Each student wishing to enter the freshman class must show evidence of his/her 8th grade graduation from a recognized elementary school. The student needs to have a completed
application, taken the admissions test, have a copy of their 7th/8th grade report card, and a copy of their 7th grade test scores.
2.) What payments must accompany the application?
We do not require an application fee. We do however require each applicant to take the placement test, and there is a $25 fee for that.
3.) What is tuition?
You can find the 2012-2013 tuition information on the
Tuition page. That is where you will also find information on the payment plans and discounts available.
4.) Is financial aid available?
We have a number of financial aid opportunities to help students with tuition and fee costs. Grant and scholarships are in place for those that qualify to help. We have an entire page dedicated to
Scholarships and Financial Aid.
5.) What placement tests are required for admission?
We use the High School Placement Test (HSPT). All applicants are required to take this test. We must have a complete application and the prospective student must pay the $25 fee.
6.) Where are these admission tests held?
The tests are held here at Luther North College Prep. You must be preregistered, paid the $25 fee and we must have a complete application in order for you to take the test. Testing dates for 2012/13 year are: March 24, April 28, and June 9 2012.
7.) Must I take the admissions test before I can be considered for acceptance?
Yes, you must take the admissions test in order to be considered for acceptance to LNCP
8.) When will I find out if I have been accepted at Luther North?
Notification of your acceptance will be sent as soon as all required materials mentioned above have been submitted, and the admissions test has been taken.
9.) When will I find out what courses I will be taking my freshman year?
Accepted students will be contacted in late spring to meet with the Registrar to review the results of the admissions test, and to choose the courses the student will take in their freshman year.
11.) What are the levels of classes available?
Standard classes are available as well as advanced classes and Advanced Placement courses that are taken for college credit.
12.) Must one be affiliated with a Lutheran church in order to attend Luther North?
While Luther North is maintained and supported by Lutheran congregations in the area, students of all religious backgrounds are welcomed to our student body. About 52% of our students do not have Lutheran affiliation.
13.) Do all Luther North students come from Lutheran elementary schools?
No. Although the majority of each freshman class has had this background, about 50% of our students have come from public or other private schools.
14.) What percentages of LHN graduates attend college?
98% of LNCP students who graduated in 2011 are attending college. 61% of 2010 graduating students are attending 4 year colleges, while 29% are attending 2 year colleges around the country. Another 8% intend to enroll within two years.
