Winterim

Luther North College Prep gives students the opportunity to participate in a unique program that we call Winterim. Over the course of a two week period between the first and second semesters, students are able to enroll in some exceptional classes.

LNCP has designed an enhancement to studentsʼ educational opportunity, between the traditional high school semesters, called “Winterim.” During this period each year students will take either one ½ credit course or two ¼ credit courses for ten school days. This unique educational opportunity allows the school to enrich its curricular choices and the student to broaden and enrich his/her education.

Courses offered will be assessed as the regular curriculum, but may include “pass/fail” assessment criteria. The students’ grades will be included with the second semesterʼs cumulative grade point average at the end of the second semester each year and will be included on each student’s transcript.

Because of the nature of the design, students may not receive credit if they miss two full days during the Winterim period. If this is the case the transcript will show “Withdrawn.” No “incompletes” will be allowed as a final grade as all work must be accomplished during the Winterim period. If credit is not achieved, for whatever reason, the student will need either to take an overload elective or make an elective up in summer school to complete the LHN curriculum requirements. Additionally, Winterim coursework may not be substituted for any graduation requirement unless approved by the Registrar before the course is taken.
